POF vs PE shrink film for L sealers

PE shrink film applications
PE shrink wrapping is often considered for stronger transit packs, trays and multipacks. The machinery route may be different from a presentation L sealer line and can involve sleeve sealing with a heat tunnel.

PE film is commonly reviewed where pack strength is more important than a fully enclosed presentation wrap, such as trays, bottles, cans and grouped cartons.
Many PE applications use sleeve sealers rather than L sealers because the film sleeve can hold grouped products before the tunnel shrinks the pack.
Pack weight, tray support, bundle pattern, film thickness, tunnel aperture and conveyor strength are critical to review before quoting.
| Product | Send length, width, height, weight, photos and the largest and smallest pack sizes. |
|---|---|
| Film and finish | Confirm whether the priority is retail presentation, transit strength, tamper evidence or product protection. |
| Output | Confirm target packs per minute, daily volume, loading method and whether the product arrives from another machine. |
| Site | Confirm floor space, power, compressed air, conveyor height, access and any upstream or downstream equipment. |
FAQ
Some L sealer routes can use PE, but grouped transit packs often suit sleeve sealers better.
Multipacks, trays, bottles, cans and heavier grouped cartons are common examples.
POF is normally chosen for clear presentation, while PE is often selected for strength.
